Ranking October 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

16. Burnt

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 29% (5/10) Box Office: Despite Bradley Cooper's surely sizable paycheck, this one came together for just $20 million, but in its opening weekend it under-shot expectations, making just $6.7 million. It'll probably be profitable in the long run when home video and VOD are factored in, but don't expect it to do major theatrical business worldwide. The Verdict: With a minimal marketing campaign, lack of presence on the festival circuit and review embargo until very close to release, the writing was on the wall that Cooper's latest drama wouldn't be winning any Oscars. However, Burnt isn't merely failed awards bait, it's an actively offputting film which doesn't make good use of its killer cast (also including Sienna Miller, Daniel Brühl, Emma Thompson, Uma Thurman and Alicia Vikander) and can't combine its various tones into an interesting or emotionally gratifying film. Cooper tries his best to support the material, but it's hard to much care when what we're seeing is so template-driven and just plain dull.
