Ranking October 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

9. Marshall

RottenTomatoes Score: 83% (6.7/10)

Box Office: You can blame terrible marketing for this one grossing just $7 million from 821 theaters against its $12 million budget. The lack of a festival run caused many to assume it simply wasn't up to par, and by the time the solid reviews began pouring in, it was too late.

Verdict: Chadwick Boseman gives yet another terrific performance as an historical figure, this time as Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court Justice, in a workmanlike but highly entertaining drama.

Though focusing less on Boseman and more on Josh Gad's character has earned the film its share of criticism, it's hard to argue with the story's overall emotional thrall, and how necessary it is for contemporary audiences.
