Ranking October 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

1. Shirkers

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100% (8.7/10)

Box Office: Direct-to-Netflix.

Verdict: A fascinating documentary about a filmmaker investigating the theft of her own film three decades prior, Shirkers is at once an affectionate tribute to independent filmmaking and a beguiling mystery revolving around the enigmatic director who fled with all of the movie's footage.

Punctuated by gorgeous excerpts of the eventually-recovered footage while unspooling an intensely bizarre character study, Shirkers is a testament to creativity and perseverance, not to mention the power of shared experiences.

Also, props to Netflix for picking up such a left-field festival hit that's going to get many more eyes on it following their acquisition.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
