Ranking September 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

5. It

It Pennywise
Warner Bros.

RottenTomatoes Score: 85% (7.2/10)

Box Office: Blowing past just about any and all expectations, It has just crossed the $500 million mark against a $35 million budget, breaking countless records for September and general horror releases, and prompting Warner Bros. to quickly set a September 2019 release date for the sequel.

Verdict: Arguably one of the best Stephen King adaptations to date, It doubles down on its young ensemble leads (who are terrific actors, by the way), while Andy Muschietti's direction makes the most of Bill Skarsgard's wonderfully creepy turn as Pennywise.

As far as studio horror films go, they don't get much better-crafted and intense than this, and while it remains to be seen how well the challenging second half of King's novel will be adapted to the screen, at least nobody can take away the brilliance of this chilling, emotionally resonant first half.
