Ranking September 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

17. Night School

Night School Kevin Hart
Universal

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 31% (4.5/10)

Box Office: Kevin Hart can't put a foot wrong at the box office, and his new $29 million comedy effortlessly recouped its price tag in its opening weekend alone. It won't be one of the actor's bigger hits, but an easy, modest success? Absolutely.

Verdict: In a year with a high number of surprisingly great studio comedies, Night School...isn't one of them. A lowest-common denominator comedy that can give Hart's Ride Along movies a run for their cynical money, this infuriatingly overlong 112-minute slog wastes a great cast on low-effort jokes, visually repulsive direction and one of the worst CGI explosions in the history of cinema.

It tries to be earnest and fails horribly, but worst of all, it rarely musters more than a polite smirk. Try harder next time, Kevin, please.
