Ranking The 10 Best Disney & Pixar Films Since 2000

3. Inside Out

Ralph Breaks The Internet Disney Princesses
Pixar

When people talk about the genius of Pixar, they often talk about the level of quality they have been able to output over the years with very little in the way of negatives (*cough* Cars *cough*).

But the best of the best Pixar movies aren't just heaped in with the rest of them, they are singled out for exceptional praise. Which is the case for Inside Out.

The few films that came before it proved Pixar had been stuck in a bit of a rut, making good movies sure, just not great ones as is their norm.

However, we returned to that greatness with a film quite unlike any other Pixar had made. Sure, the characters of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust were perfectly cast and written and of course, the visuals and imagination on offer were spectacular. But this film had that thing which is hardest to get right and it had it in oodles: Heart.

Watching the film, we were all Riley, we felt what she felt and understood again what it was to be young and going through unwanted hardship.

Pixar went brave (sorry) on this one and made a film that at the forefront was about childhood angst. They didn't hide it with talking fish, monsters, or toys - they showed it to you as a human being.

A box-office total of $858 million against a production budget of $175 million and an RT score of 98% makes this film one for all coming time.
