Ranking The 10 Best Disney & Pixar Films Since 2000

2. Finding Nemo

Ralph Breaks The Internet Disney Princesses
Pixar

Back in 2003, Pixar was finishing up its fifth film for release. Who knew that the story of a lost boy (fish), an over-protective father, and a forgetful Royal Blue Tang would become what it is now revered as.

When Nemo is taken by divers during a dare to show his father that he isn't a baby anymore, we start a journey that takes us as far emotionally as Marlon goes physically.

There are few films that can have an underlying current of panic and fear but not let up on the laughs until an audience is at their most vulnerable, choosing that one perfect moment to hit you where it hurts.

However, Dory telling Marlon that she feels home whenever she is with him is one of the most affecting moments in Pixar's illustrious history.

The visuals are stunning, the script is perfect, and the performances are fantastic. Finding Nemo came out after Monsters Inc., and though that film too is wonderful, the shift up in the way Pixar conveys emotion was cataclysmic and began an era where they just continued to refine that art.

At the box-office, the film took a stone-cold $940 million against a $94 million budget - in 2003!

RT aggregated the score at 99% which sounds about right. So, today 17 years and a sequel later, Finding Nemo remains an example of some of the finest movie-making in the 21st century.
