Ranking The Best Movie In Every Major Comic Book Franchise

14. Guardians Of The Galaxy

Batman Blade Wonder Woman
Marvel Studios

You'd be easily forgiven for failing to remember that Guardians of the Galaxy was viewed by many analysts as a massive gamble on Marvel Studios' part, with a lot of people predicting that an ensemble superhero movie set in outer space that was based on a relatively obscure comic and featured little star power in the cast could be destined for failure.

Obviously they were dead wrong and the Guardians quickly became some of the MCU's most popular characters, and giving James Gunn a previously unheard of level of creative control within the franchise turned out to be a masterstroke, with the filmmaker's DNA apparent in almost every pore of the movie.

The sequel was just as fun but not quite as fresh, and the first instalment's blend of irreverent humor, bizarre antiheroes and more obscure pop culture references marked a welcome departure from the studio's increasingly identikit series of sequels and potential franchise-starters.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
