Ranking The Best Movie In Every Major Comic Book Franchise
15. Deadpool 2
It seems hard to believe that Fox held off on giving Deadpool his own solo movie for close to a decade, given the massive financial rewards that it brought them. The Merc with a Mouth's second adventure might fall into many of the pitfalls associated with superhero sequels, but the self-aware hero is at least in on the joke.
The constant streak of meta humor remains just on the right side of being too wink-wink, and the action scenes in Deadpool 2 are also vastly improved, which is to be expected with John Wick and Atomic Blonde's David Leitch calling the shots.
The narrative doesn't break any new ground, but the introduction of new characters like Cable, Domino and the hapless X-Force poke fun at both the traditions and the absurdity of the comic book genre, and with the staunchly family-friendly Disney now in charge of the rights, the sequel could very well be the last time we ever see Deadpool truly unleashed.
