Ranking The Best Movie In Every Major Comic Book Franchise

3. Spider-Man 2

Batman Blade Wonder Woman
Sony Pictures

Directors don't always have to be huge fans of the material that they're adapting, but it certainly worked wonders for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, and you can almost feel the filmmaker's lifelong love of the character seeping out of every frame.

The web-slinger's first sequel might follow some of the established rules and regulations for any superhero sequel, but it also stood head and shoulders above almost all of the competition thanks to an unmatched combination of intelligence, emotion and the focus on the human story at the center of the narrative, while still managing to deliver the kind of high-powered action audiences had come to expect from the superhero genre.

There still hasn't been a better Spider-Man movie despite a further five attempts, and whatever Marvel are cooking up next for Tom Holland will have to be something pretty special to even challenge Raimi's sequel as Spidey's finest moment on the big screen.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
