Ranking The Best Movie In Every Major Comic Book Franchise

25. RED

Batman Blade Wonder Woman
Summit Entertainment

The success of Taken in 2008 inadvertently created an entire sub-genre that allowed some of cinema's elder statesmen to kick some serious a**, and the entire concept of Red and the sequel was based around seeing an entire ensemble of veteran actors get to indulge in some action-packed shenanigans.

Nobody knew that they needed Helen Mirren starring in an action movie until they saw this movie, which luckily for us has since seen her go on to become one of the Fast and Furious franchise's most unexpected recurring features. Dame Helen easily steals the limelight from yet another sleepy Bruce Willis performance, although John Malkovich is also good value for money.

The sequel may have been a cynical cash-in to capitalize on the unexpected success of a first installment that made almost $200m at the box office on a budget of less than $60m, but the first outing for the Retired and Extremely Dangerous gang remains a decent way to whittle away a couple of hours.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
