Ranking: The Biggest Protagonists From 2016's Summer Blockbusters
8. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) - Jason Bourne
The Role: The iconic super-spy who emerges from the shadows one more time when information surfaces about his past, and of course, another shady government outfit immediately goes to great lengths to assassinate him.
First things first, Matt Damon absolutely kills it in the title role once again: few will argue with his steely, physical performance that proves he hasn't missed a step in the decade since he last played the part.
However, the character has never been this uninteresting, largely because the movie doesn't manage to fully justify its own existence. The revelations about Bourne's father don't add much of interest to the character, Nicky's (Julia Stiles) death doesn't have quite the impact you'd hope for on Bourne, and by the end of the movie, he's basically the same person he was at the start of it.
Sure, the action is still awesome and it's an entertaining movie to a point, but bringing the beloved character out of his well-earned retirement sadly didn't do much for him.
