Ranking: The Biggest Protagonists From 2017's Summer Blockbusters
5. Baby - Baby Driver
Ansel Elgort proves himself a thoroughly capable action hero against considerable audience skepticism in Edgar Wright's hyper-stylish new action flick, and from his character's curious ailment (a case of tinnitus he drowns out with awesome music) to his incredible skills beyond the wheel, he's nothing if not one of the year's most uniquely bada** protagonists.
The romance with Debora (Lily James) is honestly neither here nor there, but where it matters, Baby's tenacity both in a car and on-foot, and his deep desire to leave this world of crime behind make him an incredibly easy-to-root-for protagonist.
Straight out of the Ryan Gosling school of stoic heroes who mostly speak with their actions, Baby is too cool for school but also boasts a heart of gold. It's hard not to dig that winning combo.
