Ranking: The Biggest Protagonists From 2017's Summer Blockbusters

18. Cade Yeager - Transformers: The Last Knight

It's almost impressive how Mark Wahlberg's Texan inventor Cade Yeager feels like even less of a character here than he did in the last Transformers movie, with Wahlberg basically defaulting to playing himself at all times.

Though he does at least get to wield Excalibur for a brief moment, Wahlberg mostly feels like a spectator in his own movie, taking a back-seat to the insane robot action and a handful of characters, both human and robot, who are infinitely more interesting.

While there's no shame in being out-classed by Anthony Hopkins and his robot ninja butler pal Cogman, Wahlberg basically sleepwalks his way through the movie, and it wouldn't be remotely surprising if he didn't return for the Michael Bay-less sixth movie.
