Ranking The Howling Movies Worst To Best

Many genre fans were surprised by the 2010 announcement that Anchor Bay Entertainment would be bringing a new Howling sequel to home video. The franchise has been dormant for fifteen years and many thought it dead and buried follow the disastrous New Moon Rising.

The film follows Will, a high school student as he learns of his werewolf heritage and subsequently has to battle his own mother and save his friends from her race of wolf minions.

The Howling: Reborn is a very promising little movie and certainly stands head and shoulders above some of the horrors that preceded it. The production values are the best we've seen in quite some time and it's clear the people making the film actually cared about the final product.

The main problem with The Howling Reborn is that it plays very much like a product of its time, meaning it was clearly an attempt to turn the tired franchise into an R-rated version of Twilight. The hammy love story and the "good" werewolf angle are groan worthy and hold up an otherwise entertaining tale of teens battling wolves that have invaded their school.

Without the young adult style melodrama, the film would be a much more enjoyable werewolf flick, something that the horror landscape has been lacking in recent years. Unfortunately The Howling Reborn's attempts to be current let it down.
