10. Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
Sebastian Stan played Steve Rogers's best friend and teammate, Bucky Barnes, in Captain America: The First Avenger, but a fall from a mountain in World War II-ravaged Europe left Barnes presumed dead. When the brainwashed hero was revealed to be alive - and an assassin - in the present-day set Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a brand-new villain.
This built to a fight between the two former friends, with the Winter Soldier only remembering himself just before delivering a death blow to Captain America. The two went down in a sinking S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, but Barnes saved Rogers from drowning in the Potomac River.
The Winter Soldier character was one-dimensional, but as prisoner brainwashed to kill targets, he didn't need to be anything more. Now that he's in the process of regaining his memories, Stan will be able to give a deeper performance as Barnes.
As an added bonus, the fight scenes with Stan and Chris Evans were among the best in the entire MCU.
