9. Aldrich Killian (Iron Man 3)
Revenge is a pretty common motivator for villains, but few are as petty about it as Aldrich Killian, founder of Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). At a New Year's Eve party in 1999, a drunken Tony Stark stands the disabled Killian up in a rooftop meeting. Fourteen years later, Killian is sound of body - thanks to the Extremis virus - and out for Tony Stark's blood.
Killian (the "real" Mandarin, according to director Shane Black) has used scientist Maya Hansen to create Extremis, formed his own terrorist outfit, and kidnapped the President of the United States. In a final confrontation with Iron Man, the superpowered Killian tears through dozens of suits of armor and nearly kills Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.
Guy Pearce did a fantastic job portraying a man who was able to get over his infirmities, but not his insecurities. Despite his arrogant attitude - which borders on complete "above it all" douchebaggery at times - Killian is a bloodthirsty psycho who wants to inflict terror and pain with his own hands and the hands of others. By the end of the film, he's a terrifying foe.
