Ranking The Next 10 Superhero Films From Least Anticipated To Most

5. Aquaman

Avengers Endgame
Warner Bros.

Speaking of which, James Wan's aquatic adventure film is thriving at the moment thanks to some unexpectedly stellar reactions to its initial screenings. It's a little bit troubling and odd that WB hasn't lifted the full review embargo yet, because some glowingly positive reviews would do wonders to boost the anticipation around this film, but things are looking much more positive for DC than they were at this time last year.

The marketing and trailers for the film are everywhere and have done a solid-if-not-great job of selling the film as an action/adventure romp in the style of Indiana Jones, but also featuring characters riding giant sea creatures. Also, WB and DC have done an unexpectedly good job of letting Arthur Curry himself, Jason Momoa, do a lot of the advertising himself.

To the majority of general audiences, Momoa is known as 'that buff shirtless dude from Game of Thrones' and has a reputation as an off-kilter heartthrob. By leaning into this (the marketing has heavily featured Momoa shirtless, he just hosted SNL to sell his charisma), WB and DC have been able to generate the kind of positive buzz even among casual of filmgoers that they haven't had since Wonder Woman.
