Ranking The Next 10 Superhero Films From Least Anticipated To Most

2. Captain Marvel

Avengers Endgame
Marvel Studios

Marvel started out their banger week this week by releasing the second trailer for Captain Marvel which did a lot to further tease Brie Larson as the titular character and the dynamic between her and de-aged Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, while also keeping a tight lid on the narrative proper.

It's fair to say that this film shot to this exact spot on the list months ago, when the end-credits scene of Infinity War sent several casual filmgoers racing to find out exactly who Captain Marvel was and what she had to do with any of this. By hitching this film's wagon to Infinity War's plot but keeping the trailers so squarely focused on Captain Marvel herself, Marvel may just get to have its cake and eat it too.

With the film releasing nearly two months before Avengers: Endgame, it's release will get a big financial boost from post-Infinity War syndrome, without actually having to do much to deliver on those expectations other than featuring a beeper at some point.

And if a second Avengers: Endgame trailer comes out between now and March featuring Captain Marvel and assuring general audiences of the pivotal role she's sure to play in that film? It'll just make Captain Marvel that much more of a phenomenon.
