Ranking Tom Hardy's Accents From Weird To Really Weird
6. Leo Demidov - Child 44
You'd think that Tom Hardy wants to be Gary Oldman with the sheer number of accents he's attempted in a relatively short space of time - and after trying his hand at a number of British and American variations, he opted for a Russian accent in the recent Child 44. You won't be surprised to learn that Hardy's performance in Child 44 is just as weird as his strange and somehow mesmerising accent - it's a bizarre turn from the actor in general, though he still manages to be the best thing about the lacklustre movie on the whole. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGXKy4u14ec Part of the weirdness to be associated with his detective character in Child 44 is the voice he opts for, which is essentially a stereotypically thick Russian accent that dips in and out of sounding like an accent from various other Eastern European countries (but mostly Transylvania). It isn't bad, nor is it good - it's merely a Tom Hardy accent, all the way.
