The Addiction is a vampire movie unlike any other, following philosophy student Kathleen (Lili Taylor) as she succumbs to her vampiric urges and leaves a trail of destruction in her wake.
Incredibly melodic and shocking in its depiction of Kathleen's addiction to her curse, the horror-drama is almost poetic in its assessment of vampirism and soullessness, tackling its subject with both intelligence and effective, minimalist storytelling.
1995 wasn't an overly big year for great horror, but even so it's hard to think of a film that could've topped this.
