Razzies 2017: 8 Winners That Make No Sense

3. Razzie Redeemer - Mel Gibson

Why It Makes No Sense: It's not so much the idea of Mel Gibson winning the coveted Razzie Redeemer award that makes no sense, but the means through which he's been awarded it.

Gibson won it for venturing from the apparent low of his Worst Supporting Actor nomination for 2014's The Expendables 3 to being nominated for a Best Director Oscar for his work on Hacksaw Ridge.

The logic is off because Gibson was easily the best thing about The Expendables 3 and gave the movie's only particularly interesting performance.

Who Should've "Won": There are two very good options here: Natalie Portman (from three Razzie nominations for the Star Wars prequels to an Oscar win for Black Swan and a further nomination this year for Jackie) and Nicole Kidman (from a 2012 Razzie nod for Just Go with It to an Oscar nod this year for Lion).
