Razzies 2019: 7 Winners That Make No Sense
2. Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off Or Sequel - Holmes & Watson
One of the more consistently "honest" Razzie categories is the Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel award, and true to form, this year's slate of five nominees were (almost) all worthy of landing the nod.
But as bad as Holmes & Watson was, it certainly wasn't the most objectionable, even when you examine it within the context of the more imaginative movie and TV iterations of Sherlock Holmes which have been released over the last decade-or-so.
Who Should've Won: The Meg is too damn fun to deserve a nomination so that's gone, leaving behind right-wing doc Death of a Nation - the latest in Dinesh D'Souza's series of critically-panned propaganda pieces - Death Wish and Robin Hood.
Death of a Nation isn't really a sequel in the strictest sense and feels like a bit of a cheat, so it's a toss-up between the almost equally-terrible Death Wish and Robin Hood.
The former is more dull but the latter more aggressive in its misguided approach to reinventing its mythic figure, so we'll go with that.
