Razzies 2020: 10 Nominees That Make No Sense

4. Cats - Worst Screenplay

The five films nominated for Worst Screenplay this year were The Haunting of Sharon Tate, Hellboy, A Madea Family Funeral, Rambo: Last Blood and...Cats.

While none of these films have even remotely good scripts, Cats doesn't really feel like it belongs here because, let's be honest, it barely actually has a script.

Cats largely consists of songs in which characters introduce themselves to the audience with some scattered lines of dialogue in-between.

As an adaptation of the musical, it's pretty much what you'd expect, and of all the things that made Cats an utter failure, the script was pretty far down that list.

When films like Serenity, Black Christmas, Countdown, Men in Black: International, Midway, The Hustle, and Gemini Man exist, nominating Cats here just reeks of Razzie voters having their claws out for it above all else.
