Ready Player One Review: 7 Ups And 3 Downs

1. It's Way Too Long

Not only is Ready Player One Spielberg's best blockbuster since Minority Report, it's also his longest, clocking in at 140 minutes. And, as is the case with a number of large-scale movies, it could do with losing at least twenty minutes or so.

There are times when the film is in the real world, and periods of the third act in both Ohio and the OASIS, where the movie does noticeably start to drag. Not quite enough that it really spoils the overall enjoyment of the movie, but enough that you're wishing they'd get on with things. It certainly could've been tighter, which is odd to say because the film is fast-paced for the most part in acts one and two, and it's the biggest plot on the movie as a whole.
