Recasting Every Major Role In The DCEU
1. Stephan James As Cyborg / Victor Stone
What Happened?
In total fairness, Ray Fisher has never been less than enthusiastic about reprising the role of Cyborg, but given the utterly unenthusiastic response to the character's proper debut in Justice League, there's virtually no chance in hell that planned Cyborg solo movie is ever going to happen.
Hell, Fisher himself has said as much, and recent rumours indicate that Warner Bros. has effectively washed their hands with him, with no desire to bring him back for even a smaller supporting role. Yikes.
The Recast
While it's possible that Cyborg will simply be quietly phased out of the DCEU, it's tough to believe that Warner Bros. will be able to resist making another Justice League movie long-term.
There likely wouldn't be much resistance to the character just being quietly recast down the line, and hopefully with a less-revolting, more-practical suit to boot.
Numerous prominent young black actors have already had their names thrown into the hat - including, most laughably, Chadwick Boseman - but Stephan James is a hot young actor currently enjoying the after-glow of starring in Barry Jenkins' Oscar-winning If Beale Street Could Talk.
Much like Fisher he would come to the DCEU without any blockbuster experience, but Jenkins' film proved his incredible range, and hopefully he'd be given the opportunity to deliver a lighter and less, uh, robotic version of Cyborg.
