6. Evan Rachel Wood - Jean Grey

Evan Rachel Wood is one of those actresses that hasn't yet landed a major breakout film role, but has been quietly building up one hell of a portfolio over the years with a series of strong performances in smaller projects.

She held her own against a career-best Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler and performed opposite George Clooney and Ryan Gosling in The Ides Of March, arguably outshining them both in the process.

She's got the right look too - not that hair colour is of the utmost importance when casting a big part, but she has rocked Jean Grey's signature red locks before, most notably in HBO's vampire drama True Blood.

Hollywood loves to create 'the next big thing', taking prolific dramatic actresses and turning them into stars (Brie Larson as Captain Marvel is a great example), and Wood's talent combined with her slowly rising star would make her a likely candidate for a role in a big superhero movie.
