Recasting The Harry Potter Movies If They Came Out Today
10. Kingsley Shacklebolt – Idris Elba
Kingsley Shacklebolt is one of Rowling’s more underrated characters, and due to the excessive cutting of the source material, he wasn’t very prominent in the Harry Potter movies despite a memorable performance from George Harris.
What defines Kingsley more than anything else is his aura of confidence and maturity. Idris Elba, with his tall stature and sharp delivery, is the perfect fit for such a character. He always brings a distinctive dramatic presence to his various roles, which include Heimdall in the MCU and Stringer Bell in The Wire. (Though he’s perhaps best known amongst British audiences for playing the title role in Luther, the popular detective show.)
If Elba were to accept the role, the new writers would hopefully give Kingsley a lot more screen time than he received in the original movies.
