Recasting The Harry Potter Movies If They Came Out Today

Dolores Jane Umbridge is the most hated villain in the Harry Potter franchise. She may not be as outright evil as Voldemort, but her fondness for medieval punishments and her annoying mannerisms make her an easy character to dislike.

Olivia Coleman – who recently won an Oscar for her performance in The Favourite – may seem like an odd choice given how pleasant she is in real life. Yet she’s also demonstrated a considerable acting range throughout her career. Her performance as Ellie Miller in ITV’s Broadchurch was superb. She was able to balance fury with comedy and her chemistry with David Tennant was terrific.

Whilst some might argue she’s better suited to a more comedic character given some of her previous work (she also starred in Peep Show and Hot Fuzz), Coleman’s performance in Fleabag as a passive-aggressive stepmother proved she can tackle villainous characters as well.
