6. Rubeus Hagrid – Mark Addy
Robbie Coltrane was Rowling’s first choice to play Hagrid, and it’s easy to see why. In all eight Harry Potter movies, he was perfect as the Hogwarts gamekeeper and topping such a performance would be an impossible undertaking.
Mark Addy – who played Robert Baratheon in HBO’s Game of Thrones – would be a decent successor, though. As ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, King Robert was often quite forceful and domineering in the first season of Game of Thrones, so the more aggressive side of Hagrid would not be a problem.
But as any Harry Potter fan will know, Hagrid possesses a very kind nature most of the time. Thankfully, back in the early 2000s, Addy starred alongside Heath Ledger in the comedy-drama A Knight’s Tale. He played a squire named Roland whose general temperament was kind and considerate, and as such, he’d have no trouble portraying the friendly gamekeeper.
