Recasting X-Men: 14 Actors Who Need To Replace Singer's Mutants

10. Rebecca Romijn - Mystique

This is a particularly curious bout of recasting because, of course, Rebecca Romijn played Mystique in the original X-Men trilogy before stepping aside for the younger, more marketable Jennifer Lawrence in the prequels.

A combination of the First Class trilogy coming to an end and Lawrence's widely-reported lack of enthusiasm for the part means she's unlikely to return for more movies, but given the shape-shifting nature of the character, it would be incredibly easy to re-cast her with just about anyone.

That said, Romijn has kept herself in incredible shape and, at the age of 44, wouldn't feel out-of-place as a 50-something version of the character. Plus, she'd be a hell of a lot more convincing as a mentor to the younger X-Men than a mid-20s Lawrence.

Romijn may not have the Oscars that Lawrence does, but she's clearly comfortable staying blue for 99% of her screen time, and that's basically what fans want.
