Horror fans tend to be a passionate bunch who absolutely love the genre, and to that end they'll gladly revisit movies again and again even if they're utterly imperfect, so long as they're doing something fun or interesting.

But there are also those horror films that, for whatever reason, most of us can't ever bring ourselves to go back to.

Perhaps a film's atmosphere is so grim and oppressive that it's tough to convince yourself to spend more time in it, or maybe that first viewing is such a unique, novel experience that subsequent watches will surely only dilute its impact.

These are just two reasons why a horror movie might be a one-and-done affair - beyond the obvious prospect of it being absolutely terrible, of course - and in the genre's recent history, these are the 20 movies you're unlikely to come back to any time soon, if ever.

Again, it's generally not a reflection of their quality - mostly, anyway - but rather that the content on offer gives the viewer everything on a single sit, for one reason or another...

It's rather fitting that, just like the 1978 film of the same name that inspired it, the new Faces of Death will definitely be a one-and-done affair for most people.

But that's not really a reflection of its quality, for despite being stuck in post-production limbo for years, Daniel Goldhaber's giddy satire about what horror truly means in the social media era has a whole ton of nasty tricks up its sleeve.

Yet as impressively self-aware as Goldhaber's film is, it's also incredibly unpleasant to sit through, and despite running a tight 97 minutes in length, you couldn't be blamed for not wanting to re-enter its world once it's over.

Dacre Montgomery gives such a sublimely, skin-crawlingly vile performance as the murderous antagonist that you'll likely want to shower after the end credits roll - and that's most certainly a compliment, even if it seriously dents the film's rewatch value.
