Reese Witherspoon: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
2. June Carter - Walk The Line (2005)
Reese won several awards for her portrayal of singer-songwriter (and the second wife of singer Johnny Cash) June Carter; including the Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild, the BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Actress. Portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, Walk The Line captures Johnny's life from shortly before his first record up until his marriage to the woman he would go on to spend over thirty years of his life with, June Carter. Because of that, this isn't just a movie about Johnny Cash, this is both of their stories, his and June's. Phoenix and Witherspoon, who sang every song themselves, completely shined in this film. There are no better actors that could have filled the shoes of the Carter-Cash duo. The pair had such great chemistry, by the end of the movie the thought of the actors really being in love doesn't seem too far-fetched. Overall, Witherspoon delivers a full-bodied, note-perfect performance and proves herself an able singer in the process.
