Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
4. The AWFUL Dialogue
While most of the performances in the film aren't great, it's tough to blame the cast too much when the material they're working with is so damn poor.
The dialogue in particular is sure to elicit groans from fans, and while more charitable viewers might deem it all a fitting homage to the series' cornball B-movie influences, it's simply not fun or entertaining to sit through.
Beyond the terrible "humour," there's reams and reams of boring expository dialogue, and overall it smacks of a screenplay that was basically written over a weekend while Roberts smoked a bowl and played through the first two games.
Good dialogue sells the story in an organic way while developing the characters as distinct entities, but everything here just feels so damn mechanical.
