Richard Curtis To Direct Time Travel Dramedy About Time

Film is based on the Love Actually director's script and will shoot this summer, casting already underway.

Comedy director Richard Curtis (Love Actually, The Boat That Rocked) is venturing into science fiction for the first time in his film career with About Time, an original time-travel dramedy based on his own script. The Hollywood Reporter say the film is setup at Working Title on a modest budget but we have no story details yet. The film is next on Curtis's plate and will shoot in the summer, with casting now underway. Although Curtis, who most recently wrote Steven Spielberg's Oscar baiting The War Horse, has never done sci-fi for film he certainly has for television. He wrote the Doctor Who episode 'Vincent and the Doctor' which saw the Timelord go back to the 19th century to meet Vincent Van Gogh and delved into many of the rules of time travelling! That episode featured Bill Nighy in a special guest cameo part, an actor Curtis has used frequently in his works; Love Actually, The Boat That Rocked (aka Pirate Radio in the US), The Girl in the Cafe. What price for him to be involved in this too?
