3. Murphy Is Self-Aware
This is one of the most interesting parts of the new film. Since it began production Jose Padilha mentioned that this version of Robocop will see the "human" side of Robocop, showing him trying to come to terms with the fact that he's now a machine and trying to relive the life he used to have before he was destroyed. In the first movie Robocop was completely human, with him only regaining consciousness near the final act of the movie. With this one having Murphy being aware of what he is, slowly losing control of himself and becoming more machine they can have some interesting character development. For example, one of the things that I always found quite odd about the first movie was that we never truly see Murphy's home life before he became Robocop, only as a flashback. Here we will see him trying to live a normal life while becoming more and more as a machine, it will be very intriguing to see how they develop something as complicated as that.
