RoboCop Remake Trailer: 5 Things We Learned

1. Corporative Satire

Qerw One of the things that defined Robocop was the social commentary the film had from beginning to end; the fake commercials, the people's reactions towards the events that were unfolding, the way the media changed the stories. Making a new Robocop movie without that satire or at least some sense of social commentary will be a crime even if the movie is good. However from what we've seen it appears that we won't have to worry too much about it; the first set photos we saw showed a huge group of people protesting about having a machine taking care of the people, as well as the drone situation as I've mentioned it before, however I have the feeling that the biggest criticism this movie will have will be towards companies in general. It's really strange to see the head of Omnicorp deciding what to do with a human being in order to make him more appealing to the public, hell I'm not even completely sure about that, since it looks like he's trying to build something that will please him. Considering how Omnicorp will be a big part of this movie as opposed to the relatively small role it had in the original movie, my guess is that we'll see some heavy criticism towards today's monopolies in the film. I'm really excited for this film, the trailer did have some problems (the music and editing looked extremely generic) however what we saw definitely was worth the waiting, I can't wait until I see the finished product.
