Rosamund Pike: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Dr. Samantha Grimm - Doom

In a role she'd likely prefer to forget, Pike plays Dr. Samantha Grimm, the sister of protagonist Reaper (Karl Urban) in the risible movie adaptation of the classic video game Doom. There's not much for Pike here other than to play the cute scientist spouting exposition and eventually becoming the damsel-in-distress for Reaper to rescue. What's more, the actress seems totally aware that she's starring in a dud, and puts virtually no effort into her role, barely conveying an ounce of terror when the various monsters begin attacking. It's all too easy for her, and therefore hard to buy into Reaper's desperate quest to keep her alive. Hell, she doesn't even try that hard to deliver an American accent, proving far weaker than her better-honed results in Barney's Version and Gone Girl. Thankfully the movie is so universally loathed by both gamers and non-gamers (aside from that awesome FPS sequence), that most won't even remember she starred in it.
