Runaways: 5 Reasons Why It Should Be Marvel's Next Movie Priority

3. It's Funny

runaways-funny It really, really is. As dark and dramatic as the material gets sometimes - the Runaways have a healthy cast change rate with new characters being brought in as older ones pass away - there's always a sense of fun, of lightness around the corner and available in a well-scripted quip. The comparison to Tony Stark's one-liners in The Avengers can't be avoided but with Joss Whedon actually one of the writers for the comic (he wrote a heartbreaking and hilarious run involving time travel a few years back), the quality of humour used is always smile-inducing and tempered with the affection that the characters truly have for one another. Molly is easily the funniest Marvel character for the past decade or so, her childlike innocence combined with an effervescent irreverence and snarkiness that has secured her place as a comic fan favourite. Her classic one-liner about chores in the Whedon time travel episode says it all - it's dark, it's bittersweet, but most of all, it's just plain funny, something that should always be incorporated into superhero movies.
