Russell Crowe: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked
2. Zack Grant - No Way Back
Because he went from a New World nobody to self-professed greatest actor in the world so fast, many of Russell Crowes earlier roles have been forgotten. Which is a good thing for him, seeing as theyre full of massive swings-and-misses.
Fortunately for you, Im here with the preposterous No Way Back, an action cheapy that went straight to video and would be completely forgotten if it hadnt got lucky with its star.
While L.A. Confidential would get him noticed, this was Crowes first big American role, and yet he doesnt seem all that excited about it. He just meanders through the gangster-on-gangster-on-cop kidnap story, sharing no chemistry with Helen Slater (not hard given how poor she is too) and clearly hasnt quite mastered the American accent just yet. Not an early gem worth checking out.
