3. Jackson Healey - The Nice Guys

The Nice Guys is awesome and if you went to see Angry Birds instead then it's your fault when we're doomed to a future where no original movies are made and civilisation descends into anarchy.

As I said in my written review, the best thing about this hilarious, genuine pastiche thriller is the Russell Crowe/Ryan Gosling double act. Shane Black gleefully flaunts convention by making them different to the typical 70s cop duo, so while Crowes Healy is a hard boiled heavy, he's contradictorily highly disparaging of Gosling's alcoholism and aspires to be a legitimate Private Investigator.

We get the scumbag-with-a-heart-of-gold arc, but on a less open level, something Crowe rises to. Hes affecting, hes funny, hes violent. Did you really see Angry Birds instead of this?
