Many fans relate the come up of Sam Wilson to the first issue of the All-New Captain America in November of 2014. Believe it or not, it wasn’t the first time the character took on the title. Before that title’s release, Sam Wilson dawned the shield one time for his buddy Steve Rogers.

It was a brief moment in time, but it still counts. This is the trivia you can use to shock your friends.

The ninth issue of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty saw Steve Rogers severely injured and unable to perform his duty. A pre-winged Sam Wilson takes on the role of Captain America briefly. It was like a substitute teacher stepping in at the last minute. The moment doesn’t stick out in many fans minds. The whole scenario came and went with little fanfare, but it’s now a fun little factoid people can use to outsmart their friends. So, all in all, the moment was not entirely purposeless.
