Samuel L. Jackson & Bernie Mac are SOUL MEN
Just when you thought it was safe to go see a Samuel L. Jackson movie again! Actor has signed up to do a comedy movie with Bernie Mac, although it doesn't sound awful to be fair.
Variety. Well in truth, Bernie Mac is only in talks for the picture at this stage but he won't turn this down, this is the best role he has had in ages. The movie is SOUL MEN, and it will see them both play two former backup soul singers who are part of a now defunct musical group and haven't spoken to each other in two decades. When the band leader of their group dies, they reluctantly agree to a tribute performance They haven't spoken to each other in 20 years but they reluctantly agree to travel together for a tribute performance. Both actors will both be signing and dancing in the picture which will begin production in January, after Jackson has finished his work on THE SPIRIT and Mac on OLD DOGS. No director is attached to this Dimension Film production (they have given themselves a two week deadline to find one) after New Line let their option on the film expire. If it wasn't a comedy just have had my interest. Mac is capable of dramatic work but I just fear this is going to turn into just another comedy from him. It's going to be the execution, rather than the idea which will see this movie fall.
