Samuel L. Jackson visits THE UNFINISHED COUNTRY

The Hollywood Reporter say Jackson will star in THE UNFINISHED COUNTRY, a new TRAINING DAY style thriller setup over at Blue Star Pictures and Inferno Entertainment. Mark Wheaton has wrote the script. His previous writing credit is THE MESSENGERS...

Jackson plays Elton, the chief administrator of an overcrowded hospital located in the middle of South Africa's violent Soweto ghettos. Elton's methods of treating patients are put into question when a young U.S. medical student arrives to do his residency and the hospital gets caught in the crossfire of local gang warfare. The fact-based "Unfinished Country" takes place in the largest hospital in the world, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. The film will be shot on location in South Africa.
I've said it before, for every BLACK SNAKE MOAN and THE SPIRIT, Jackson does attach himself to some lame projects (FREEDOMLAND, THE MAN). Which side of the fence does this one fall one? Possibly on the first. There might be some interesting things going on in this one, I've always liked medical drama's when they have a bastard doctor with questionable methods. And putting that situation out in South Africa, should be interesting to see. No start date given on this one but I presume it's not pre-strike with Jackson working on THE SPIRIT and then SOUL MEN and because the script for this is probably not written because of the WGA strike.
