20 Most Satisfying Horror Movie Villain Deaths EVER

15. Annie Wilkes - Misery

The first of two Oscar-winning horror villain performances on this list, Kathy Bates gives an all-timer turn in Rob Reiner's Misery as Annie Wilkes, an obsessive fan of novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan), who nurses Paul back to health following a car accident but then refuses to let him leave.

She psychologically abuses Paul, hobbles him to prevent him from leaving, murders a sheriff, and ultimately plans to kill both herself and Paul, but her worst crime is one that happens prior to the events of the film - murdering multiple infants while working as a nurse.

In the climactic scuffle, Paul manages to trip Annie, causing her to fall face-first onto a typewriter, and then finishes the job by bludgeoning her to death with a heavy iron doorstop.

Between Bates' magnificently hateful performance and Reiner's tightly wound direction, it's tough not to breathe a genuine sigh of relief when Annie is finally put down for the count.
