6. CiCi (Scream 2)
Cicis death in
Scream 2 really had nothing to do with the main plot or the killers agenda (unless you count Gales the killer is trying to recreate the events of the first film theory which is completely abandoned after this particular murder). In the end, it is just an excuse to raise the body count. Left home alone as the sober sister of Omega Beta Zeta, Cici (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who was only one season into
Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is unwittingly setup as the perfect horror movie victim. Playing with multiple familiar horror movie scenarios (girl alone in big house, sorority girl, phone call coming from inside the house, etc.), Cici falls into nearly every trap Ghostfaces phone game, falls for clever misdirection, investigates strange noises, runs upstairs before she is thrown through a window, stabbed, and rather effortlessly tossed off the fourth floor balcony.
Trivia: The girl who Cici is talking to on the phone at the beginning of the scene is played by Selma Blair (
Hellboy,
Cruel Intentions,
Legally Blonde), who was just starting out in the business. The pair memorably shared a lesbian kiss in Cruel Intentions, released two years after this movie.
