SDCC: DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK Comic Con poster

First footage from the film to debut on Friday.

CHUD's owner Nick Nunziata is associate producer on Miramax's forthcoming coming-of-age creeper Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, so we aren't at all surprised they have the exclusive first look at a Comic Con exclusive poster, which we think acts as the first major piece of advertising for the January 2011 released film. Though I'm now being told EW did run a still of the film this week in the SDCC preview issue. We've been anticipating this remake of the 1973 ABC telepic for a while now, mainly because it's co-written and produced by the mad genius that is Guillermo Del Toro and also because his latest protage Troy Nixey makes his directorial debut with the film, and he's well known amongst the internet community for sharing del Toro's creative juices gene. And... we used to like Katie Holmes before Tom Cruise/Batman Begins killed her career, and it's been too long since she made an interesting film. The film centers on young girl (Bailee Madison) who moves in with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) and they discover they are sharing the house with devilish creatures. The original centered on the couple but we think (and the poster hints as much) del Toro's movie will focus on the kid. Del Toro and Nixey will be introducing the first footage from the movie, and will conduct a Q & A with the audience at SDCC on Friday, from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in Hall H. After the jump, see the full poster image...
