5. Ned Stark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW6wfXPeJTw Television series: Game Of Thrones How he died: Beheaded Eddard 'Ned' Stark is the moral protagonist of the story and his downfall is essentially his loyalty to his King and his friends. He is the honourable patriarch of the Stark family and had raised his six children to be as virtuous and courageous as him. However, after the discovery of the incestuous relationship between Cersei and Jamie Lannister leads him to the conclusion that King Robert's children (who is married to Cersei) are illegitimate. He confronts Cersei about this and gives her the opportunity to escape into exile with her children. More events unfold as Robert is killed in a hunting accident and Ned is later betrayed by Littlefinger which leads to Joffrey, 'the rightful heir', to demand a public confession of Ned for treason. Joffrey promises to have Ned exiled but kills him instead, in front of his two daughters. It's all very dramatic, but only Ned lost his head over it.
