8. The Island (2005)
In stark contrast to Michael Bays other films, which are basically montages of explosions and gunfights, The Island is a rather enjoyable (in my opinion, at least) sci-fi flick, though it does still feature its fair share of mindless action sequences. The film is set in a supposedly post-apocalyptic world, where Lincoln-Six-Echo (Ewan McGregor) and Jordan-Two-Delta (Scarlett Johansson - who Bay overruled when she wanted to perform a sex scene in the film topless men around the world hate you for this, Michael) live in a compound run by Dr. Merrick (Sean Bean). Regular lotteries are held for the inhabitants, with winners supposedly transferred to the island, the last place on Earth untouched by the supposed contamination that has rendered the rest of the world unliveable. In reality, the inhabitants are clones of the rich and famous and the lotteries are a way of removing people from the population to harvest their organs, which are needed by their benefactors in the wake of accidents and such. Lincoln discovers this, taking Jordan with him in what becomes an escape-turned-revenge movie, which concludes with Beans character being strangled by chains (which is somewhat ironic).
