6. He Pre-Dates Iron Fist By One Year
The 1970s Kung Fu craze, found in films such as Enter The Dragon, and TV shows such as Kung Fu, inspired a new generation of superheroes grounded in Asian martial arts mythology.
Thanks to modern adaptation, the most well known in this category is Iron Fist, but Shang-Chi's debut actually pre-dates Danny Rand's by one year. With the legacy of Fu Manchu already established a long time prior, it wasn't difficult for Shang-Chi creators Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin to combine pre-existing elements with current trends.
In the long run, it was only going to be a matter of time before Shang Chi and Iron Fist joined forces as a crime fighting duo, but Shang-Chi's martial arts flair also had him pairing up with the Daughters of the Dragon, Misty Knight and Colleen wing.
Speculation was large as to when Shang-Chi was actually going to make an appearance in the Iron Fist TV series. All things considered, it's safe to say that Marvel did the right thing in saving his renowned persona for bigger things.
